A 14-year-old boy who reportedly robbed a trio of students near McTigue Elementary School and then surrendered to police after a two-hour standoff Monday was ordered Tuesday to remain in juvenile detention.

Michael Brown, a student at Rogers High School, is charged with burglary and aggravated robbery.

The Brown youth was taken into custody after he walked out of his grandmother’s home in the 800 block of Sibley Street, where he was holed up until police fired several rounds of tear gas into the southwest Toledo home.

Police allege the youth robbed and possibly pistol-whipped another teen near the elementary school before taking refuge inside the house. They would not say whether a gun was recovered nor discuss any injuries suffered during the robbery.
