A Toledo man accused of shooting another man downtown was indicted Wednesday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Houston Hart III, 27, of 516 Adams St. is charged with felonious assault and attempted murder, both with firearm specifications, for an April 25 incident in the 200 block of 13th Street in which Louis Barton, 39, of Toledo was shot three times during an argument.

Mr. Hart’s father, Houston Hart, Jr., 49, had a pretrial hearing Wednesday before Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook. The judge set an Aug. 4 trial for the elder Mr. Hart, who is charged with two counts of murder for the death of Joseph Meyers, 53, who was fatally beaten and stomped at the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission last August.
