3 Toledoans accused of murder are arraigned

Three Toledo men accused of various roles in a fatal stabbing last month appeared in Toledo Municipal Court on Monday and were ordered to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of bond.

Scott Warnka, 30, of 2907 117th St., and Roy Cerveny, 30, of 3224 138th St., are both charged with murder. A judge set their bonds at $1 million. John Haugh, 38, of 5048 Tappan Ave. is charged with murder and aggravated murder. The judge set his bond at $2 million.

The three are charged in the May 23 stabbing death of Thomas Przybysz, 30. The victim was stabbed, allegedly by Haugh, outside of his Point Place home in the 4600 block of 283rd St. after returning home from work.

Police allege that the stabbing was organized and solicited by Warnka and that Cerveny helped to organize and plan the stabbing. Police have not commented on a possible motive.

Also in court was Haugh’s mother, Charlotte Lindsley, 61, of the Tappan Avenue address. She is accused of assaulting police Sgt. Kevin Korsog when the sergeant attempted to arrest Haugh. The sergeant was not seriously injured.

Ms. Lindsley is to remain in the jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

During her arraignment, she told Judge C. Allen McConnell she needed to be out of jail because she cares for her 87-year-old mother and is scheduled to have an eye surgery that she’s been “waiting 30 years” to have. The judge ruled to keep her in jail.

Family and friends declined to comment after the arraignments.
