Wauseon councilman indicted

Fred Allen indicted for theft, tampering.

WAUSEON -- Wauseon City Council member Fred L. Allen was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury this week on charges he stole from the county.

Mr. Allen, 61, was indicted for theft in office and tampering with records for conduct that allegedly occurred between Jan. 12, 2012, and Feb. 6. Information from the prosecutor’s office states that he "allegedly, being a public official, stole property or services owned by a county. He also allegedly tampered with records belonging to a governmental entity.”

Mr. Allen serves as assistant fire chief for the Wauseon Fire Department and is a member of the board of directors of the Northwest Ohio Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
