Toledoan pleads not guilty to hitting police car
6/26/2014A Toledo man accused of punching an unmarked police car pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Toledo Municipal Court.
Howard Overmeyer, Jr., 42, of 1943 W. Sylvania Ave., is charged with criminal damaging and resisting arrest. He was released from the Lucas County jail on his own recognizance.
Detectives were westbound on Lagrange Street at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday and passed Mr. Overmeyer, who was crossing at Moore Street, according to an incident report. Police said Mr. Overmeyer punched the driver’s-side mirror, breaking the glass. They found the suspect and identified themselves as police officers. When they tried to arrest him, police said Mr. Overmeyer tried to flee.
