A Toledo man who robbed a Charter One Bank branch was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ruth Ann Franks also ordered that Ryan Shumaker, 24, of 950 S. Byrne Rd. pay $2,516 in restitution to Charter One.

Last month, he pleaded guilty to robbery for the March 29 hold-up.

Judge Franks said Shumaker gave a note demanding cash to a teller at the bank’s branch at Detroit and Glendale avenues, and when the teller asked whether he had a bag, he became agitated and grabbed the money.

While prosecutors had recommended a sentence not exceeding six years, Judge Franks imposed seven years and ordered that it be served consecutive to the time Shumaker must serve for violating his parole from a home-invasion case in Monroe County.
