A Toledo man who was arrested Thursday night after a three-hour standoff with police was arraigned today.

Bruce Maag, 50, of 3138 Brock Dr., is charged in Toledo Municipal Court with failure to comply; his bond was set at $25,000. He remains in the Lucas County jail.

According to a police incident report, Officer Andre Antoine, a member of the motorcycle unit, stopped Mr. Maag at Atwell Road and Edgebrook Drive when the suspect allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign at about 4:40 p.m. Officer Antoine told the the suspect to turn off the vehicle, but he refused and instead sped away, allegedly narrowly missing children who were riding bicycles in the street.

As the suspect fled he reportedly crashed his car into a neighbor‘s tree before pulling into his driveway on Brock Drive‍ and then running into the house through a back door. Because neighbors told police there might be guns inside the home, the SWAT team responded to the West Toledo residence and, after hours of unsuccessful negotiations, SWAT officers fired two rounds of tear gas into the home. The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
