A Toledo man charged with shooting a man in the ankle, then stealing his cell phone pleaded guilty Tuesday to felonious assault with a firearm specification.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ian English then sentenced Larry Spearman, 31, of the 1200 block of Pinewood Avenue to seven years in prison for that case and for an unrelated case in which Spearman pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon.

Prosecutors said Spearman shot Brian Moss Aug. 21 after Mr. Moss walked out of a convenience store at Detroit and Central avenues. As part of a plea agreement, Judge English dismissed an aggravated robbery charge.
