The Toledo Zoo has been honored by a national magazine in its April issue as one of the nation’s best kid-friendly locations and vacation spots, zoo officials said.

The zoo earned double national honors in FamilyFun Magazine: second among zoos and aquariums, and eighth overall. Travel destinations were ranked in a variety of categories, including kid-friendly cities and sites, zoos and aquariums, and theme parks.

“I’m honored that so many FamilyFun readers rate the Toledo Zoo as a top choice,” Jeff Sailer, the Zoo’s executive director, said in a statement. “We are grateful for our visitors’ support and for Lucas County voters’ longtime levy support which make this possible.”

The zoo, located on the Anthony Wayne Trail, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Beginning May 3, weekend hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
