Heavy rains caused a utility pole insulator to fail and left more than 1,900 people without power today in East Toledo, a Toledo Edison spokesman said.

Gary Keys said that the power outage occurred at 2:47 p.m.

Power has been restored to all but about 70 of those customers in the area of Clark and Wilmot streets as of about 4 p.m., he said.

Mr. Keys said the insulator has been repaired and that power is expected to be restored to those last residences by about 5 p.m.
