Unemployment rates drop across northwest Ohio
Lucas County at 8.1%, Toledo at 8.7% for August
9/24/2013Unemployment rates dropped across the region in August, the state said today.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said Lucas County's estimated unemployment rate for August was 8.1 percent, which was down from 8.5 percent in July. In the city of Toledo, the rate fell to 8.7 percent from 9.3 percent in July.
State officials said the August rate was also lower in Fulton, Ottawa, and Wood counties.
The individual county unemployment estimates are not seasonally adjusted to account for normal, cyclical fluctuations in the economy.
The state's unemployment rate in August was up slightly to 7.3 percent, officials said last week. That matches the national rate for the month.
