ACHIEVEMENTS

■ Two area companies were honored at the recent Ohio Association of Meat Processors convention in Columbus. Hasselbach Meats of Fremont was first place for boneless hams, grand champion for summer sausage, reserve champion for whole-muscle jerky, first place for skin-on slab bacon, and grand champion for semiboneless ham. Tanks Meats of Elmore was reserve champion for bone-in hams, grand champion for skin-off slab bacon, reserve champion for spicy dinner sausage, reserve champion for wieners, and grand champion for whole muscle jerky and restructured jerky.

■ The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have listed two area Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices communities among the nation’s “Best Nursing Homes.” Those chosen are the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Communities in Pemberville and Lakeside-Marblehead.
