Heidelberg University’s Arrowhead Park campus in Maumee will close after the 2015 summer term.

Provost David Weininger said Tuesday about 40 students are enrolled at the Maumee site, down from a high of more than 100 students around 2006 and 2007.

Mr. Weininger said the decision was mostly financially motivated, but he declined to specify how much the university might save. It operates in a leased building.

Most students are expected to be able to complete degrees in the next 18 months. Students who aren’t done may finish their studies at the Tiffin campus, Lourdes University, or another accredited institution.

The Maumee campus opened in 1989, with an emphasis on serving working adults.

Full-time faculty members who taught in Maumee will have jobs at the Tiffin campus, though about half a dozen adjuncts will not be needed after the campus closes, Mr. Weininger said.
