St. Ursula students seek help in STEM contest

St. Ursula Academy students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Club have made it to the finals of a national competition, and are asking for the public’s help to win the grand prize.

The students installed a modified rain garden behind the school as a natural filter for water run-off from about 30,000 square feet of parking lot. The team was judged in the top eight high school teams in the nation in the Lexus Eco Challenge. They were awarded $10,000 and the chance to be in the final challenge.

For the finals, the STEM Club students hope people will log onto their Web site lightbulbinfo.org today to help them win the $30,000 grand prize. The site will tell consumers about how incandescent light bulbs are being replaced by more energy-efficient options.
