BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University and the faculty association have reached a resolution regarding the university’s fall announcement it would cut 40 faculty contracts.

The association opposed the university’s announced cuts that included 30 full-time, nontenure-track faculty contracts and others with “terminal” contracts.

As part of an agreement announced this week, the university will provide severance to those with four or more years of full-time service. There are 18 faculty members eligible for that payment, which will total an estimated $300,000.

Severance payments will range from $8,680 to $26,410 and will be based on salary and years of service, according to a university spokesman.

The resolution also addresses seniority rules regarding those whose contracts will be terminated and indicates two people will be reappointed next year because of recent openings.
