FREMONT — Residents of four area counties will have more time to apply for help with heating costs.

WSOS Community Action Commission, serving Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties, announced the deadline to file for heating-bill assistance has been extended by two weeks to April 15.

The one-time help is available to residents who face utility shut-offs and meet income eligibility requirements, or 175 percent of federal poverty guidelines.

Those who qualify may receive up to $175 to pay for regulated utilities. Help also is available for those who heat with wood, propane, and other sources.
