Singer/Songwriter Series "Torrence" Featuring Emily Keener
March Singer/Songwriter Series
Category: Music
Time: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Venue: Sandusky State Theatre
Address: 107 Columbus Ave.
Sandusky, OH

Description: Featured musician Emily Keener is a sixteen year old singer/songwriter (from Cleveland, OH) with a thing for Paul Simon and VW Buses. She’s often been called a young girl with an old soul, and likes nothing better than to write and share her words. She plays her dad’s old acoustic guitar with a folksy groove, and can fill a room with her unique style.

Her shows include her original songs, with some choice covers here and there. Her natural stage presence showcases her beautiful melodies and ever-growing vocal talent. Emily started playing the guitar when she was 11 years old and began writing songs when she was almost 12. After writing for 4 years, she has over 100 original songs and has released two EPs and one LP in addition to the one that’s currently in the works.

Headliner: Torrence is a Cleveland based musician that moonlights as a high school teacher. While many of his songs have a somewhat pop music structure most of his lyrics try to stay within the realm of singer/songwriter and capture "life" in the words he writes. Some songs are autobiographical, other songs are stories people tell but all work to have a sense of familiarity. Torrence spends a lot of time playing shows in the Westlake, Lakewood, Cleveland and Willoughby circuits in the Northeast and you can preview and download his music through iTunes or find it at on his website at www.torrencemusic.com

Artwork displayed by Brian Driscoll is a mixed media artist living and working in Sandusky, OH. Driscoll started his art career drawing pastel portraits and caricatures at the Cedar Point amusement park. He received a B.A. in Visual Art from Columbia University. He was the recipient of the Columbia University School of General Studies Alumni Key Award in 2013. He has studied under many well-known artists and art historians in a variety of disciplines including Rirkrit Tiravanija, Tomas Vu, Rosalind Krauss, Ward Shelley, and Tobi Kahn. He has also participated in artist-in-residency programs at the School of Visual Art and the Vermont Studio Center.
