Description: Renowned sculptor, George Carruth, will sign his handcrafted sculptures, as well as meet and greet his fans and collectors of his art, at two upcoming events in December. The signings will be held at Garden Smiles in Waterville on Saturday, December 7th, from 10AM-5PM, and Sunday, December 15th from 12 Noon until 5PM. Garden Smiles is located at 211 Mechanic Street in Waterville Ohio.
George and Deb Carruth started Carruth Studio thirty years ago in 1983. Since that time, George's designs have appeared on the covers of more than thirteen garden and gift catalogs. Commissions include designs for the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., a custom stone ornament for the White House Christmas tree, corporate gifts for Home and Garden Television and a public television documentary titled "George Carruth: American Sculptor". Larger installation pieces are mounted in an elementary school, public library, city clock tower and many private homes.
With the opening of their retail studio outlet called "Garden Smiles" in Waterville, Ohio, collectors can see the Complete Collection of over 250 designs by George, and enjoy the "almost perfect" slightly blemished pieces sold at discounted prices. The art of more than 20 other artists is also represented at Garden Smiles, including glass, ceramics, steel, copper, paintings, jewelry and other media.
According to Deb Carruth, George’s wife and business partner, the demand for Carruth pieces has never been greater. “People love to collect Carruth sculptures and to give them as gifts for all occasions,” she said. “We’re pleased to introduce many new designs this year, including a new Nativity, which is especially popular right now,” she added. According to Deb Carruth, demand for the new nativity alone has been strong.
“Ever since the first artist signing back in 1992, we knew we wanted to continue this tradition,” said Deb Carruth. “Meeting fans face to face allows us to really get to know them, as well as get their feedback. We especially enjoy hearing the stories of why they choose a design and for whom. These stories are often very personal and tender.” People particularly enjoy having their piece signed by George Carruth. It adds a special feeling. All the sculptures are handcrafted, Made in America, and original designs of George Carruth.
George Carruth sculptures are some of the most sought-after collector’s items in the US. They are often purchased as gifts for the holidays, Mother’s Day, birthdays, and as expressions of sympathy; wedding and anniversary gifts; pet memorials; installations; teacher’s gifts; expressions of thanks; as landscaping accents; as wedding table decorations; corporate gift giving; fundraisers; and as client closing gifts by realtors.
**Keep in mind the new Route 24 is now open, so when you're coming west on Route 24, the road makes a "fork". Stay to the right for Waterville- this is old 24 and will lead you right into Waterville. If coming east on the new Route 24, exit at the Waterville exit and turn right. Take this road all the way down to the old 24.
