Description: The Metamora United Methodist Church, along with six other churches in Northwest Ohio, will be hosting a "Walk For Water" in cooperation with 20 Liters - an organization seeking to end the water crisis.
We will meet at the Metamora Community Park, embark on a 2 mile walk (transportation provided for those physically unable), fill up various containers with dirty water, and carry the water back - a common experience for one billion of the world's poorest people.
The event begins at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 17th.

Most of us don’t have to think where our next glass of clean water will come from – yet for one billion of the world’s poorest people, this is a problem they face every single day.
They wake up early in the morning, walk several miles to their nearest water source, which is usually polluted, get as much water as they can, and carry it back. Experts say it takes twenty liters of water per person per day to survive; these people get roughly five. Many of us have a daily use of about 500 liters per day. This isn’t right – and we need to do something about it.
On May 17th, 2014, the Metamora United Methodist Church is going to try and do something about it. We have partnered with a group called 20Liters (20liters.org) that has focused their efforts in Rwandan villages by supplying rainwater harvesting systems, filters, and training to sustain these tools. Our goal is to raise resources to help supply this organization to continue providing clean water to those who need it, but also, our main goal is to enter into this experience with them. Literally. We are going to participate in their story and the difficult experience they are forced to face every single day. We are going to walk for water.
We want to invite you to join us on May 17th at the Metamora Community Park with people from all over Northwest Ohio as we gather empty containers, carry them to a water source, fill them up, and carry them back full. For those who can’t make the walk, transportation will be provided to the water source. We will also have a filter so you can watch your dirty water be turned into something you can drink.
