ABOUT THE TEAM

Coach: Travis Cooper, third year

Last season: 3-7, 3-5 NWOAL

Returning letter winners: 15

Returning starters: Offense 8, defense 9

Schemes: Gun-and-boot/3-4

Top players: Seniors Ty Suntken, 5-11, 185, QB-DB; Alec Vonier, 5-8, 188, OL-DL; Aaron Schuette, 6-0, 178, TE-LB; Cesar Juarez, 6-1, 220, OL-DL. Juniors Noah Castle, 6-4, 220, TE-DL; Zac Robinson, 5-11, 156, WR-DB; Anthony Werder, 6-1, 217, OL-DL.

Outlook: The Indians would like to make a significant jump in the NWOAL.

"Last year we took our lumps," Cooper said. "Finishing 3-7 was not fun. The biggest thing we’re missing is confidence."

There are plenty of reasons for to be encouraged with 15 returning letter winners headed by quarterback Suntken, who led the team with 16 TDs last year.

Suntken was the league's fourth-leading passer(95 of 203 for 1,087 yards, 8 TDs), and fifth-leading rusher (1,141 yards on 199 carries).

On the defensive side, the Indians have nine returning starters anchored by Schuette, Vonier and Juarez.
