Blue Devils rally for victory; Irish, Eagles girls cruise

Boys

Bowling Green 61, Northview 59

BOWLING GREEN — Trent Hinton’s 3-pointer with 20 seconds left lifted the Bobcats to a boys basketball victory Thursday night in Northern Lakes League play.

Hinton scored 17 points for BG (1-4, 1-2 NLL), which trailed 35-32 at halftime. LaMonta Stone led the Bobcats with 21 points.

An off-balance 3 at the buzzer missed the mark for Northview (1-4, 0-3), which got 18 points from Mohamed Afisi, 14 from Austin Rogers, and 13 from Aerin West.

 

Springfield 61, Napoleon 60

The Blue Devils outscored Napoleon 22-12 in the fourth quarter to sneak away with a home win in NLL action.

Markese Hicks poured in 20 points to lead Springfield (3-1, 2-1 NLL), while Manny Durden added 18.

Anson Lankenau paced Napoleon (0-4, 0-3) with 16 points, Blake Dunbar had 14, and Zach Willeman and Michael Gilliland had 10 each.

 

Perrysburg 68, Maumee 48

Nick Moschetti hit three 3-pointers, part of a game-high 24 points, to lead the Yellow Jackets at home.

Nate Patterson added 18 points for Perrysburg (4-0, 3-0 NLL), which outscored Maumee 40-22 after halftime.

Mitchell Kontak scored 21 points for Maumee (1-3, 1-2).

 

Evergreen 48, Patrick Henry 46

METAMORA — Kyle Brighton knocked down 5 of 6 free throws late in the game, and Evergreen held on to top Patrick Henry in a Northwest Ohio Athletic League contest.

Logan Pinkelman paced the Vikings (4-1, 1-1) with 15 points and Max Oswald and Brighton added 10 each.

A.J. Wagner tallied 17 points for Patrick Henry (0-4, 0-1) and Alex Scheele had 15.

 

Wauseon 38, Swanton 24

SWANTON — Wauseon outscored Swanton 17-7 in the final quarter to ensure a victory in NWOAL action.

Noah Castle paced the Indians (4-1, 2-0 NWOAL) with 11 points.

Bryce McComb led Swanton (1-4, 0-2) with eight points.

 

Archbold 83, Montpelier 21

ARCHBOLD — Luke Fisher scored a game-high 24 points as the Blue Streaks rolled to a home win.

Archbold (4-0, 1-0 NWOAL) also got 18 points from Tyson Schnitkey and 12 from Grant Rupp.

Montpelier (0-5, 0-2) was led by Parker Houk’s seven points.

 

Edgerton 52, Toledo Christian 40

Toledo Christian could not recover from a 19-5 deficit after the first quarter and fell at home.

Max Nihart poured in 21 for Edgerton (4-1), while Alex Michael had 12 and Nolan Wright 11.

Garshawn Paynther, Matthew Brumbaugh, Kyle Kempton, and Ian Gibson all scored eight points to lead Toledo Christian (4-2).

 

Pettisville 65, Antwerp 57

PETTISVILLE — Eli King scored 13 points to lead Pettisville (3-2).

Jeremy Mann added 12 points for the Blackbirds and Korben Rychener had 10.

 

Girls

Central 65, Lima Senior 62

Central won at home with a 13-3 fourth-quarter run.

Michelle Murnen scored 15, Alyssa Galernik 12, and Keytha Foreman 10 for the Irish (3-2).

Indiya Benjamin led Lima Senior (6-2) with 18 points, Essence Cowan added 17, and Rion Thompson 15.

 

Clay 63, St. Ursula 36

Morgan Connor’s 17 points led St. Ursula. Megan Burns and Alex Richards each scored 10.

 

Notre Dame 73, Fremont Ross 26

Twelve players scored for the Eagles as they cruised at home. Kaayla McIntyre led the way with 16 points, while Jayda Worthy and Tierra Floyd added 12 points each for Notre Dame.

Val Samson paced Fremont Ross with seven points.

 

Cardinal Stritch 42, Northwood 29

CeCe Gozdowski tallied 20 points, including 12 free throws, and Cardinal Stritch won a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game on the road.

Lissy Wojcinski and Alex Rable led Northwood with eight points each.

 

Elmwood 57, Genoa 47

BLOOMDALE — Kristen Curtis scored 16 points as Elmwood won in an Northern Buckeye Conference contest.

Marissa Swavel had 13 and Madison Sears added 10 for the Royals.

Ciara Albright paced Genoa with 21 points.

 

Rossford 40, Lake 35

Julie Hotz scored 11 of her game-high 15 points after halftime, leading the Bulldogs in NBC play.

Jordyn Taylor and Sumer Woodruff both scored 11 for Lake.

 

Woodmore 57, Eastwood 34

PEMBERVILLE — Mackenzie Johnson poured in 22 points and Allie Wank added 17 to give Woodmore an NBC win.

Reagan Boice led Eastwood with 14 points.

 

Otsego 51, Fostoria 49

TONTOGANY — Abby Hesselschwardt went 12 of 17 from the free throw line during a 20-point performance for the Knights.

Morgan Smoyer added 14 points and 18 rebounds for Otsego, which trailed 27-25 at halftime. Madeline Asmas added 10.

Jada Hampton led Fostoria with 16 points. Olivia Valenti and Erica Moore both scored 11.

 

Delta 69, Stryker 41

DELTA — Brigan Wymer scored 22 points to lead the Panthers (6-4) and Morgan Mattimore added 14.

Conner Varner paced Stryker (4-5) with 23 points.
