Rogers tops No. 1 Africentric; Perrysburg wins NLL crown

Rogers 47, Columbus Africentic 44

COLUMBUS — Akienreh Johnson scored 20 points Saturday night as Rogers topped Ohio’s No. 1-ranked girls basketball team in Division III.

Rogers (15-4) led 22-20 at halftime and held on.

Alexa Hart led Africentric (17-2) with 16 points and Sierra Harley added 11.

 

Perrysburg 59, Napoleon 26

The Yellow Jackets, playing at home, clinched the Northern Lakes League championship with the victory.

Sarah Baer scored 15 points and Lindy Delong added 14 for Perrysburg (14-2, 12-0).

Alena Sonnenberg’s nine points paced the Wildcats (5-11, 2-10).

 

Central Catholic 59, Northview 52

Byrdy Galernik scored a game-high 20 points to lead the visiting Irish. Alex Matus added 15 points and Demi Russels finished with 13.

Kendall McCoy led Northview with 18 points and Kendall Jessing had 12.

 

Archbold 57, Stryker 29

ARCHBOLD — Cassidy Wyse led the way for the Blue Streaks with 15 points. Along the way she scored her 1,000th career point.

Hannah Hesterman and Jesse Fidler added 12 points apiece for Archbold (16-1).

For the Panthers, Conner Sullivan had 13.

 

Southview 71, Scott 30

At Southview, Emily Westphal poured in 20 points for the Cougars (14-6) and Taryn Stanley added 12.

Simone Palmer paced Scott (5-10) with 10 points.

 

Danbury 31, Maumee Valley 23

At Maumee Valley, Megan Stephens led Danbury (8-8) in a low-scoring TAAC contest.

Kennedie Jackson scored seven to lead Maumee Valley (1-14).

 

Swanton 52, Toledo Christian 39

SWANTON — Maicie Wheeler scored 17 points for Swanton, and the Bulldogs (7-9) used a 16-2 second-quarter edge to pull away.

Camille Gist paced Toledo Christian (10-6) with 13 points.

 

Lima Senior 64, Whitmer 51

LIMA — Rion Thompson scored 22 and Indiya Benjamin 20 to power the Spartans (13-3, 6-3) to victory.

Shy McCarver had 15 and Sam Meinen 10 for the Panthers (11-4, 5-3).

 

Oak Harbor 59, Sandusky St. Mary 30

SANDUSKY — Andrea Cecil tallied 20 points to lead Oak Harbor.

Maddy Rathbun added 12 for the Rockets (13-3, 9-2) and Athena Eli scored 11.

 

Notre Dame 73, St. Ursula 30

Tierra Floyd pumped in 26 points to lead the Eagles. Mariah Copeland and Talajha Parker each had 11.

Megan Burns scored nine for the Arrows.

 

Cardinal Stritch 57, Bowsher 46

CeCe Gazdowski scored a team-high 10 points to lead the Cardinals past the Rebels in a nonleague matchup.

Ciera Bryant and Isis Dixon paced Bowsher with 12 points apiece.

 

Delta 53, North Central 22

PIONEER — Brigan Wymer poured in 20 points for Delta.

Morgan Mattimore added 12 points for the Panthers (11-7) .

North Central falls to 4-12.
