Notre Dame blasts Northview in Showcase event

BOWLING GREEN - Notre Dame went full throttle right from the start of a tilt against Northview today and ran away with a 68-33 victory at Bowling Green State University.

Junior standout Tierra Floyd scored 16 of game-high 27 points in the first half when the Eagles built a 35-12 lead.

Kaayla McIntyre chipped in with 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Eagles (15-3) at the Showcase at the Stroh event at BGSU.

Notre Dame forced 13 turnovers and had 12 defensive rebounds in the pivotal first half.

The Eagles seized a 14-3 edge after the first quarter as Floyd pumped in nine of her team's points.

Floyd scored seven unanswered points herself over the final two minutes of the opening quarter to open up an 11-point cushion.

The Eagles then started the second quarter with a 9-1 spurt to seize a 23-4 lead with 5:12 left in the first half.

Notre Dame's Jayda Worthy, who returned recently from an injury, then hit a 3 pointer to open the second quarter. Worthy finished with seven points.

Northview (15-6) was both cold from the floor early and committed too many turnovers. The Wildcats hit their first field goal of the second quarter with 2:24 left in the stanza and trailed 30-8 at that point.

Northview was paced by Maddie Cole (10 points) and Kendall Jessing (nine points).

It was the fourth of five games to be played today at the Showcase at the Stroh event.

Whitmer defeated St. Ursula 55-23 in the opening game. Southview then held off Bowling Green 57-54 in the second game. Anthony Wayne knocked off Central Catholic 61-52. Perrysburg plays Lima Bath at 7 p.m.
