This week’s featured home feels so warm, so personal, that it is hard to believe it’s new construction.

The home at 7048 Altonbrough Drive is filled with delightful touches added by builders Chuck Schmalzried and Micky Jordan of Michelle Construction that makeone feel instantly at home here.

The exterior’s deep gray siding and stone façade make the white trim pop. The front door has two sidelights and a tall, mullioned transom. A spherical light fixture hangs above, illuminating the foyer and adding to the Craftsman feel of the home.

Ceiling heights are noteworthy: 18 feet in the foyer, 12 feet in the great room, and ten feet in the master suite. The flooring is an ebony bamboo, extending throughout the first floor, from the foyer and dining room, through the great room, kitchen, and master suite.

To the right off the foyer is a study overlooking the front of the home. Large mullioned windows and custom white casings make this an inviting space.

To the left off the foyer is the formal dining room. Tall white wainscoting gives a classic, clean feel.

Straight ahead is the appealing great room. A built-in entertainment center offers space for all your components. Large sliding doors with a transom bring light into the room and lead to the spacious patio. A powder room off the great room is convenient for guests, and has a charming vanity and mirror.

This patio is truly a gem. A large, woodburning, outdoor fireplace here makes this a place to relax even in cool weather.

The formal dining room’s tall wainscoting is classic.

Inside, an informal dining area is made cozy by another sizable fireplace. This gas fireplace is custommade with dark stone and bright inset tiles, and has a raised stone hearth.

The kitchen is a showplace, with a large center island topped by Carrara marble. The cabinets are gleaming white with crown molding at the top, and contrast nicely by steel gray granite countertops. A Carrara marble subway tile backsplash looks elegant here.

For the home cook, the kitchen offers so many delights. Tucked into the island is a built-in microwave. The appliances – stove, refrigerator and freezer, and dishwasher – are from the Frigidaire Professional Series. The stove is gas, with multiple burners. A Kohler farmhouse sink in stainless steel resides under a window overlooking the backyard.

A short hall leads to the pantry, a coat closet, and an oversized two-car garage. The laundry room is off this hall, with a cast iron sink and cabinets topped by granite, and a Carrara marble floor.

The master suite is off the great room. A large bedroom has a tray ceiling and recessed lighting. Behind a pocket door is the spa-like master bath with its dramatic vaulted ceiling and crystal chandelier. Glass block windows above the soaking tub and shower let in natural light while maintaining privacy.

The tub surround and heated floor are Carrara marble. The custom shower, with two showerheads, is Carrara marble with glass accents. A custom walk-in closet is adjacent.

A lovely staircase near the foyer leads to the second floor. A lighted custom built cabinet is at the top of the staircase. The first bedroom has a double closet, and shares a Jack ‘n Jill bath. The bathroom has a double vanity and a separate water closet and custom shower.

The second bedroom boasts a huge closet – a bonus space over the garage.

The fourth bedroom has a larger closet, and a custom private bath. The bathroom features matte tile with metal accents in the step-in shower.

Stairs to the full basement are located off the foyer. The basement is plumbed and drywalled.

This home has been designated a Kohler Showhouse, the only in the area. The kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms, have these upscale fixtures.
