For instance, in this week’s featured home, 2420 Goldenrod Lane in Perrysburg’s Hull Prairie Farms, you will find an extraordinary kitchen. With its use of cultured stone, granite, and espresso-stained cabinets, it has a very solid feel – until you see the transoms above the cabinets. These windows bring in welcome sunlight, brightening the space and making it feel a part of nature. This kitchen really must be seen to be appreciated.

The home itself has many nature-inspired touches typical of its Craftsman style. The exterior is taupe siding with a stone skirting that rises up and surrounds the front door. The double front door is stained a dark wood color and flanked by lantern-style lights. White tapered pillars contrast nicely with the windows’ black battan shutters.

Inside, the foyer rises to the second story of the home. A large transom over the front door lets in sunlight and gives a view of the angles of the home’s peaks. The flooring in the foyer is a beautiful hand-scraped birch hardwood with a Wenge finish.

To the right, behind French doors, is a room Slaske Building Company calls a “flex room.” You might call it a dining room, or an office, or a sitting room. It can be any of these things or more.

Straight ahead from the foyer is the great room. This two-story room is dominated by a luxurious stone fireplace. A black beam is used as a mantel here to display your photos and other treasures. Tall windows on either side echo back to the high transom in the foyer.

The great room leads to the dining area, adjacent to the kitchen. A slate-look ceramic tile floor and modern chandelier are already in place. Simply add your table and a few chairs and you’re ready to invite friends for dinner. The nearby sliding door offers a delightful view of the backyard and patio.

A few more words about the kitchen: the stone island is home to a deep, trugranite sink. A combination of quartzite and acrylic, silver ions have been added to make this sink anti-bacterial, as well as scratch and stain resistant. Did we mention that it’s deep? You could wash a toddler or two, or the family dog here, if you were so inclined.

Off the kitchen is the mudroom, with a seating area with hooks for jackets and backpacks, a powder room, a double closet, and a spacious laundry room with cabinets. It opens to the three-car-plus garage.

Off the great room is the master suite. This gorgeous space is made more dramatic with its tray ceiling and unusual black ceiling fan. Early risers will love the morning sunlight flooding into the room.

The master bath’s spa-like feel includes a twin vanity topped with granite, a deep soaking tub nestled beneath a glass block window, a step-in shower with a rainfall showerhead, a private water closet and a large walk-in closet.

Upstairs are three generous bedrooms, each with a double closet and a ceiling fan. They share a hall bath where a double black vanity has a white cultured marble top. A door separates the bath/shower combination and the commode from the rest of the bathroom. A large linen closet in the hall serves the second floor.
