TPS data scrubbing needs examination

2/2/2014

The African-American Parents’ Association has been adamantly opposed for years to Toledo Public Schools’ policy and procedures for suspended and expelled students. The report of data “scrubbing” did not comes as a shock (“Scrubbing clean,” editorial, Jan. 17).

What is shocking is that the students who were scrubbed from the rolls supposedly had high rates of truancy. We do not believe this for a moment.

The students who were scrubbed had been expelled or suspended. A student who is not in school does not learn, and therefore won’t perform well on tests.

Why doesn’t The Blade investigate which students were scrubbed?
