It is an understatement to say that developer Larry Dillin is a visionary (“Ex-developer proud of Perrysburg jewel; Dillin works to sort out his tangled finances in Texas as he keeps tabs on Levis Commons,” June 29).
I give thanks for his successful Levis Commons in Perrysburg as I make my daily morning jaunt across the property. I do not know of another venue you can visit in northwest Ohio and feel transported to a comfortable, sophisticated, pristine, and architectually pleasing environment.
What Mr. Dillin created for this mixed-use complex required creativity and imagination. Combining retail and living space in a way that resulted in a feeling of an exclusive neighborhood, complete with music, was an awesome task.
It is a shame that Mr. Dillin became another victim of the banking industry slaughter.

Filmmaker got bad screening
Your July 4 article “Campaign-fraud case is very similar to Noe’s” failed to explain that Dinesh D’Souza is a proud American who has informed many other Americans about the bleak future we are moving toward with our current president.
D’Souza’s movie 2016 and his newly released film, America, show how we all have to stand up and be counted to keep our country the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I am tired of the negative and one-sided stories The Blade presents daily. What happened to objectivity of journalism?

2 negative stories not a surprise
Two negative articles about Dinesh D’Souza appeared in The Blade on July 4, after his movie was released in Toledo. I am not surprised at The Blade’s negativity.

Don’t be so quick to boot ‘futbol’
Retired Blade editor Thomas Walton’s July 14 op-ed column, “A last word on soccer before U.S. turns back to real sports,” is not only sad but also typical. It confirms how “normal” Americans such as he just don’t get what futbol really is.
Mr. Walton should stay retired and give up writing columns that are the ultimate cure for insomnia.

Maybe rest of the world is wrong
Regarding Thomas Walton and soccer: He has shown through beautiful language and astute logic that a billion people can be wrong.

Imagine: ‘Tie one for the Gipper’
Knute Rockne, the legendary football coach at the University of Notre Dame, was known for his inspirational halftime speeches. He would never have made it as a coach in soccer’s World Cup. He could never have said: “Tie one for the Gipper.”
