Can public sue U.S. lawmakers?
7/21/2014If House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio sues President Obama over executive orders, does that mean the American people can sue Congress for not doing the work for which it is paid and is expected to do (“Plenty of things to rant about,” op-ed column, July 12)?

Time to vote out progressives
A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that most Americans see President Obama as the worst president since World War II (“Presidential pardons by the public,” op-ed column, July 15). He has failed on health-care reform, the economy, jobs, poverty, race relations, immigration, and border security.
His foreign policy indecisiveness in Afghanistan, Israel, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine, combined with a multitude of domestic scandals and a blatant disregard for our Constitution and its laws, have validated this poll.
To slow down this administration’s assault on our freedom and restore the Constitution as the law of the land, all concerned Americans must vote this November to eliminate socialist/​progressive ideologies that threaten our Republic and American way of life.
If we don’t do so now, the death spiral will continue and our once-great country will be changed forever.

Obama not alone in fooling public
A letter writer asked how many more times President Obama will try to fool the public (“How much more can we be fooled?”, Readers’ Forum, July 9). When you consider some of the things that happened in President Bill Clinton’s and President George W. Bush’s administrations, there likely will be a few more episodes until Mr. Obama leaves office. Then we can begin to ask the same question about the next president.
Americans seem to have an infinite ability to put up with incompetence and malfeasance from politicians. Until we can elect leaders who can work together in a bipartisan manner for the betterment of our nation, and not just a bunch of bought-and-paid-for uncompromising politicians, we can expect the same.

What’s next? Ban on bird feeders?
A letter writer favors a ban on feeding stray cats because of the potential diseases found in their feces (“Stray-cat feeding ban a wise idea,” Readers’ Forum, June 23). Stop trying to criminalize compassion.
Birds can carry harmful diseases. What would the writer like next, an ordinance banning bird feeders?

Feral cats keep rat population down
The rat population would be unbearable without feral cats. Leave the cats alone. It is nature’s way of balancing things.
