Church to resume popular luncheons

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 740 N. Superior St., will begin its popular monthly luncheons starting May 8 with a menu featuring Chicken Oregano, oven-roasted potatoes, and Greek-style green beans.

Held on the second Thursday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., subsequent lunches will be on June 12 (souvlaki/​shish kebob, rice pilaf, spinach pie), July 10 (beef or chicken gyro on pita, fries), and Aug. 14 (Greek platter: cheese pie, pastichio, grape leaves).

Lunches include Greek salad, bread, and coffee or iced tea. Greek pastries, soda, and bottled water will be available for purchase. The cost is $8.99 per meal, and you can dine in the Community Center or take your lunch to go.

Fete d’Ete

Spaces are extremely limited for the Fete d’Ete, a progressive dinner featuring the wines of Anne Amie Vineyards. This celebration of food, wine, bicycles, and summer will take place on May 21.

Enjoy five restaurants, five courses, and one winemaker for the price of $80; bring your own bicycle.

Participating restaurants are the Toledo Museum of Art, Mancy’s Steaks, Manhattan’s Restaurant, the Oliver House, and Registry Bistro.

Chili champs

Mobile Meals’ Great Chili Cook-Off on March 29 raised nearly $14,000 to help support the mission of delivering meals and fostering independence. Category winners in the very tough competition were:

● Media: 94.5 XKR (both judges’ and people’s choice)

● Corporate: Team Hylant (judges’ choice), Team Heidtman (people’s choice)

● Amateur: Toledo Police (both judges’ and people’s choice)

● Restaurant: Aunt Deb’s Triple Threat (both judges’ and people’s choice)
