  • Memorial Day weekend is a good time to visit the Toledo Farmers’ Market. On Saturday and May 26, farmers will sell baked goods, produce, and meats. Shoppers also can enjoy fair-style foods, such as kettle corn, hot dogs, Italian sausage, gyros, barbecue ribs, onion rings, and fries.

Next Sunday, the annual Flower Day at the market, 35 growers and greenhouses will sell flowers and plants. This event is the largest such sale in northwest Ohio.

The Toledo Farmers’ Market is at the corner of Market and Superior streets. Parking will be available along Erie Street and throughout the Warehouse District.

Appetizers will include: Pineapple cilantro salsa with fresh tortillas and black bean dip, barbecued pork belly BLT’s, roasted garlic hummus with assorted dippers, and spiced rum and caramel fondue with pretzel rods. The wines to taste will be: Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc, Miguel Torres Rose, Miguel Torres Merlot, and Los Vascos Reserve Red from Chile; Piedra Negra Pinot Gris, Antigal Uno Malbec, and Antucura Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina; Nederburg “Lyric” White Blend, Nederburg Pinotage, and Finlayson “The Berry Box” from South Africa; and Yalumba Antique Tawny from Australia.
