Wood County Fair will appeal to food lovers

The 140th annual Wood County Fair starts Monday and continues through Aug. 4 at the fairgrounds in Bowling Green, 13800 W. Poe Rd. You’ll find fabulous food, fascinating exhibits, handmade crafts, cute animals, lots of entertainment, cooking competitions, and much more.

Bone Appétit

The Spay-ghetti and No Balls Dinner and Silent Auction, to benefit Humane Ohio, will be Sept. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn French Quarter, 10630 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg. A three-course dinner will include a choice of pasta dishes: Herb Fettuccine Alfredo, Sun-Dried Tomato, and Gorgonzola Ravioli Florentine; Radiatore Arrabbiati (featuring a spicy tomato sauce), or Linguine Aglio e Olio (dressed with garlic and oil).

The evening will include games, prizes, and a silent auction of pet-related items donated by local businesses. Tickets are $30, and those who purchase tickets before Aug. 1 will be entered into a drawing for two Cleveland Indians game tickets.

Eat & dance

Enjoy Lake Erie perch sandwiches, pizza, Polish sausage, peach cobbler served with Toft’s ice cream, and much more Aug. 29-31 at the 10th annual Perch, Peach, Pierogi, and Polka Festival in downtown Port Clinton. There will be live music, cold beer, dancing, a pierogi-eating contest, and a bake sale. The festival, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, offers fun for all ages.
