Exchange Club of Toledo wine tasting

From 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, the Exchange Club of Toledo is hosting its 6th annual wine tasting event to benefit scholarship programs for Toledo-area youth. This fabulous event will be held in the Historic Lobby of the Oliver House, 27 Broadway St., and will feature what are billed as “perfect pairings”: wine, food, friends, and fund-raising for a good cause.

Guests will enjoy appetizers along with their libations while bidding on silent auction items, selecting from a wine wall with many varieties to choose from, and partaking in a raffle. (Just one of the items is a gold table at the Denny Schaffer Summer Disco Party on June 22.)

Tickets cost $50 per person at the door or in advance, and are available by calling 419-343-2426 or emailing gweller@NationalExchangeClub.org.

    Echoes of Poland Pierogi Dinner

From 4 to 8 p.m. March 2, celebrate Polish cuisine at the annual pierogi dinner hosted by the Echoes of Poland Folk Song and Dance Ensemble as a fund-raiser for the organization. This event will be held at the P.R.C.U.A. Hall, 5255 N. Detroit Ave.

The menu includes four pierogi (cheese, potato, or sauerkraut), a vegetable, salad, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, and punch. The charge is $9 for adults and $3 for children.

For more information, call Paulina Ortyl, who founded the cultural group in 1967, at 419-531-8658.

    Gourmet buffets at community college

Don’t miss a chance to support the Monroe County Community College’s Culinary Skills and Management program, when the second year students prepare the food for an upcoming series of gourmet buffets under the direction of chefs Vicki LaValle and Kevin Thomas.

The dates and themes for the lunchtime events, which begin at 11:30 a.m., are International Street Food on March 16, Global Cuisine on March 23, Holiday Favorites on April 13, and Comfort Foods on April 20. On April 6, the Asian Edibles buffet will begin at 5 p.m. in conjunction with the 2018 One Book, One Community of Monroe County program. The meals are held in the dining room of the school’s Warrick Student Services/Administration Building, 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe, Mich.

Reservations are required. Tickets for each buffet cost $20 per person and are available by calling 734-384-4272.
