SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It's official: Shane Morris will start at quarterback for the Michigan football team in Saturday's Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

"It's weird to say it, but I'm excited," Morris said.

UM coach Brady Hoke said today that Morris, a freshman, will face Kansas State. Morris will replace Devin Gardner, who hasn't practiced since sustaining an injury to his left foot Nov. 30 against Ohio State.

Hoke said Gardner's injury is turf toe, but he is being examined for other potential injuries, including broken bones.

"It's probably a little more than turf toe," Hoke said this morning.

Morris, a former five-star recruit, will make his first collegiate start.
