Mud Hens win opener 4-1

Derek Hankins and two relievers pitched the Mud Hens to a 4-1 win over Louisville in the first game of a day-night doubleheader at Fifth Third Field today.

Hankins allowed just four hits and three walks in seven innings, retiring 13 in a row at one point. Evan Reed threw a scoreless eighth and Kevin Whelan set down the Bats in order in the ninth to record his 17th save.

Brandon Douglas had a run-scoring triple in the third and also doubled and scored in the fifth, while Ezequiel Carrera had two RBIs to lead the Hens offense.
