DETROIT — The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is hoping to bring the magic of the movies to the stage this weekend.

The DSO plans a series of performances dedicated to John Williams, who has composed music for dozens of films. Among them: “Saving Private Ryan,” "Jurassic Park,” and the Indiana Jones trilogy.

“The Music of John Williams” is set for today, Saturday and Sunday at Orchestra Hall.

The performances are to be led by Bob Bernhardt, who’s the principal pops conductor for the Louisville Orchestra.

The Detroit Symphony is to play some of Williams’ most popular scores, including “Harry’s Wondrous World” from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” as well as selections from “Schindler’s List,” ‘’Star Wars” and “Lincoln.”
