Pianist Jim Brickman will appear at a free event 11 a.m. Sunday in the Barnes & Noble University Book Store, Dorr Street at Secor Road, where he’ll play a few songs, answer questions, and sign autographs until noon.

He’ll be accompanied by guitarist Luke McMaster on guitar, who will also join him at a ticketed 3 p.m. Sunday show in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Concert tickets are $28, $38, and $48 and are available via etix.com, the Stranahan box office, or by calling 419-381-8851.

Brickman’s latest release, “The Magic of Christmas,” has 14 songs including two new tunes he wrote, as well as vocal appearances by Johnny Mathis, Megan Hilty, and Sandi Patty. Brickman, 52, is a native of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Over the last 20 years, he’s recorded inspirational, lullaby, romantic, and Christmas-themed albums. During the last two weeks in December, he’ll perform 10 concerts from New Mexico to New York.

Brickman’s piano work combined with pop-style instrumentals and vocal collaborations with the likes of Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Johnny Mathis, Carly Simon, and Michael Bolton has generated four certified gold albums and seven million CDs sold. Since the release of his debut album No Words in 1994, Brickman has released 33 albums and has the most appearances (29) on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary radio chart. Brickman received top honors with two Grammy nominations, two SESAC “Songwriter of the Year” awards, the Canadian Country Music Award, and the Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association.

Brickman is the host of a weekly nationally syndicated radio show, Your Weekend with Jim Brickman.
