MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 49-year-old Lansing-area man tells police he killed his father out of anger at the 79-year-old for re-establishing contact with relatives who’d sexually abused the son the past.

The Lansing State Journal quotes court transcripts saying Greg Basolo walked into the Meridian Township police station Oct. 25 and said he’d just shot his father, an ex-state police captain.

Police found Peter Basolo’s body at the condo the father and son shared in the Ingham County community.

The transcripts report Greg Basolo says he decided that morning to kill his father and used his dad’s bedside revolver.

Basolo is jailed awaiting a preliminary examination Nov. 7 on an open murder charge.

Defense lawyer Patrick Crowley declines comment.

Greg Basolo served on Meridian Township’s assessing board of review in 2009-2012.
