DETROIT (AP) — The first retail production 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is to be auctioned in Florida to benefit a Detroit-based cancer center.

The Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. plans to offer the car during an auction today in Palm Beach, Fla.

Chevrolet is donating the Corvette Z06. All proceeds from the auction will go to the renovation of Karmanos institute’s infusion center, providing a more comfortable setting for patients to receive chemotherapy treatments.

Last year, $1 million was raised when the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson.

General Motors President Dan Ammann says the money raised from Saturday’s auction “will help further the exceptional patient care that Karmanos is known for in our community and across the country.”
