SAN FRANCISCO — A Coast Guard water search is underway after two small planes collided over the northern part of the San Francisco Bay and only one of the aircraft made it to a nearby airport.

Agency spokeswoman Loumania Stewart says debris was spotted in San Pablo Bay after the collision today.

She said one of the planes landed at a nearby airport, but had no immediate information on the condition of those aboard.

Stewart also didn’t know how many were aboard the aircraft believed to be in the water.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said he was pursuing information about the collision.
