DETROIT — A parade in downtown Detroit marks the second and final day of the city’s annual gay pride celebration.

The Motor City Pride Festival and Parade is marking its 43rd anniversary. It began Saturday and runs through today at Hart Plaza downtown.

The parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. today.

Motor City Pride bills itself as Michigan’s largest gathering that celebrates the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. It attracts thousands of visitors to Detroit each year and also features DJs, vendors and food.

Daily admission is $5 for those 21 and over. There’s no charge for those under 21.

The event’s sponsors include Comerica Bank, Delta Airlines, General Motors, Kroger, the United Auto Workers and Whole Foods.
