PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested a man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend.

Officer James Holmes says authorities located 55-year-old Gary Michaels on Saturday and plan to charge him in the murder of Shannon Leshin.

Holmes says police responded to a west Phoenix home around 12:45 p.m. and found 48-year-old Leshin with a stab wound in her upper body.

She was pronounced dead shortly after.

A witness in the home told police that she saw Leshin speaking with her ex-boyfriend, 55-year-old Gary Michaels, on Friday night.

The witness woke up Saturday and found Leshin in her bedroom and Michaels gone.
