Ohio State falls to Iowa

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State basketball team’s path to a Big Ten title got a whole lot tougher after its 84-74 loss to No. 20 Iowa today in an early conference swing game at the Schottenstein Center.

A hail of late turnovers led to the third-ranked Buckeyes’ second straight conference loss, with star LaQuinton Ross in the middle of all that went right and wrong.

Ross scored a team-high 22 points, but struggled down the stretch. With the Buckeyes (15-2, 2-2 Big Ten) leading 65-54, Ross gave the ball to Iowa (14-3,, 2-2) on three straight possessions — once via an airballed 3-pointer, the others on turnovers. Iowa scored each time to push ahead 70-65 and only built the advantage from there.

The Buckeyes finished with 17 turnovers. Roy Devyn Marble led Iowa with 22 points.
