Braxton Miller will be limited during spring practice after undergoing minor outpatient surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller will be limited during spring practice after undergoing minor outpatient surgery on his throwing shoulder Friday, a team spokesman said.

Miller said he played through severe pain in his right shoulder during the Buckeyes’ loss to Clemson in the Orange Bowl last month, but he suggested earlier this week that he’s fine. Asked if he required medical attention after the game, the two-time Big Ten MVP said, "You've got to take time to rest after a season like that, but my body is rested."

Though the surgery is not expected to impact Miller’s status this fall, the graduation of Kenny Guiton leaves the Buckeyes without the luxury of a steady veteran backup. Offensive coordinator Tom Herman said the likely order of quarterbacks behind Miller is sophomore Cardale Jones, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett, and incoming freshman Stephen Collier.
