COLUMBUS — In an announcement that will prod young boys across the state to begin snapping footballs through tire swings, Worthington, Ohio, long snapper Liam McCullough has accepted a scholarship offer from the Ohio State football team.

McCullough today became OSU’s third commitment in three days — and sixth overall — to the Class of 2015, following pledges from Maryland safety Tyler Green and South Dakota offensive tackle Grant Schmidt. He announced his decision on Twitter after attending the Buckeyes’ special teams camp.

One of the top prospects in the nation at a position where many players begin their careers as a walk-on, McCullough chose Ohio State over offers from Michigan State and Wisconsin among others. The Buckeyes are counting on him to succeed current long snapper Bryce Haynes, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
