Defensive lineman Tracy Sprinkle dismissed from Ohio State football team

COLUMBUS — Defensive lineman Tracy Sprinkle has been dismissed from the Ohio State football team, a school spokesman said today.

The announcement came after Sprinkle spent the weekend in a suburban Cleveland jail on charges of cocaine possession, rioting, and failure to disperse. He pleaded not guilty to all charges today in Lorain Municipal Court and was released on $2,000 bond. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for July 31.

The team spokesman said Sprinkle's status with the Buckeyes "will be re-evaluated after all legal issues are resolved."

Sprinkle, a 19-year-old Elyria native, was arrested early Saturday after a massive brawl at the Grown and Sexy Lounge.

A redshirt freshman, Sprinkle was named 2012 Ohio Division I co-defensive player of the year after recording 103 tackles and 19 sacks as a senior at Elyria High.
