The Buckeyes have won 33 of their past 35 openers, though both of the losses came at a neutral site — the Kickoff Classic at Giants Stadium. They fell 16-10 to Alabama in a top-10 showdown in 1986 and 23-12 to Miami in 1999. ... Navy is searching for its first win against a ranked opponent since 2009 and its first over a top-5 team since stunning second-ranked South Carolina in Annapolis in 1984. ... The last time Toledo failed to beat an FCS opponent was in 1988, when the Rockets lost to McNeese State 46-19. … Phillip Ely is scheduled to start at quarterback for Toledo. The redshirt junior transferred from Alabama in 2012 and will make his first start since playing in the Florida 5-A state championship game as a high school senior in 2010. …The Glass Bowl’s new video board will debut today.
