Sylvania proclaims Purple Heart Day
11/19/2013The City of Sylvania has proclaimed Aug. 7 as Purple Heart Day.
Originally known as the Badge for Military Merit, the purple heart decoration was created by President George Washington on Aug. 7, 1782 to be bestowed on military men for their meritorious actions.
