Center to mark Day of the Dead

The Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center will hold its 17th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration on Saturday. The event will be at the center, 1225 Broadway, in place of the regularly scheduled First Friday events. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the festivities begin at 6, with Mexican cuisine, beverages, and entertainment. Music will be provided by Mariachi Loco and DJ Isaiah Burciaja. Tickets are $40 per person and $75 per couple. For reservations or information call 419-241-1655.

 

■ The Black Swamp Blues Society is hosting its 17th Annual Blues Challenge Saturday at the Maumee Elks Club, 137 W. Wayne St. Doors open at 5 p.m., music starts at 6:30, and tickets are $10. The following acts will perform 30-minute sets: Blind Dawg & Boogie, 6:30 p.m.; Crave My Blues, 7:15; Chitlins-N-Bones, 8; the Bricks, 8:45; Tony Godsey Band, 9:30, and the Good The Bad The Blues, 10:15.

 

■ The Laugh Until it Hurts comedy show kicks off Friday at Club Evolution, 519 N. Reynolds Rd. Comedians Big Chevy, Kelly Williams, and Queen Cookie will showcase their talent. Doors open at 8 p.m., with free appetizers until 9, when the show starts. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
