Luna Pier woman injured in car crash on Telegraph Road

ERIE, Mich. -- A Luna Pier woman was critically injured when her car crashed today on Telegraph Road north of Erie Road, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported.

Sheryl A. Witfoth, 37, was northbound at about 7:19 a.m. when her car started off the east side of the roadway and she over-corrected, sending the vehicle across both lanes into a ditch on the west side of the road, deputies said. The car vaulted and overturned, coming to rest on its passenger side in a private driveway.

Ms. Witforth was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where she was reported in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.
