ADRIAN -- A Jackson County man is being held in the Lenawee County jail accused of killing a woman and dumping her body at a boat launch.

Held in the jail, charged with murder, is Steven Daniel Storm, 42, of the Vandercook Lake area, said Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh.

Authorities allege that the suspect killed Sandra Johnson, 63, of Woodstock Township, at her home. Authorities have not said how the woman was killed.

Ms. Johnson's body was found about 10 a.m. Saturday on a boat launch at Crispell Lake in Jackson County's Liberty Township. Evidence found at the scene indicated that the body was dumped there. Once the woman was positively identified with the help of family members, authorities went to her home to secure the residence and to see that no other victims might be inside, officials announced today. At the time, they said, officials could not determine where the slaying occurred.

Evidence from the boat launch and Ms. Johnson's home was sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab for processing.

Wednesday, a Lenawee County detective obtained Ms. Johnson's bank records and detectives from Lenawee and Jackson counties met to follow up on information. A suspect, who was apparently already a person of interest, was questioned in Jackson County and subsequently arrested.

Authorities did not say what role the financial records played in the arrest or give a motive for the crime.
